Close to Environment
Probably the biggest reason to move to Punggol is its natural beauty and serene environment. Like all neighborhoods located in the north-eastern coastal part of Singapore, Punggol also has plenty of waterways and green spaces. When you want to take a break from your everyday routine, just walk down to the Punggol waterway park to feel fresh and rejuvenated. It is also the place to be if you love walking, jogging or cycling. In fact, many people come here frequently to exercise for better health. Despite being so popular, the Punggol waterway park is not so crowded, thereby giving you a fair degree of privacy.
Other than the Punggol waterway, there are other scenic places too in this neighborhood such as Punggol park and the Punggol Promenade Nature Walk. This nature walk extends for about 2.4 kilometers and includes many fishing platforms and shelters for the convenience of users. The entire stretch of 2.4 kilometers gives users a chance to truly get close to nature.
Shopping and Dining
If you thought Punggol is all about nature and tranquillity, wait till you head out the nearby Sengkang and Pasir Ris neighborhoods. Both these areas are bustling and offer some of the best shopping and dining options for you. In Punggol too, you have many restaurant choices that offer a range of different cuisines. One of the local delicacies in this part of Singapore is seafood such as mee goreng, pan-fried fish fillet and chilli crab. The my cool cafes that surround this area give you many options for a quick bite such as scrambled eggs, pork tacos, waffles, pizzas, milkshakes, juices and more.
In terms of bars too, you can sample some of the best drinks. Though the number of bars are limited, you can get some funky and cool choices such as Hbiki Japanese Harmony, Japanese sakes, kopitam beers, ciders, craft-beer and more. Also, you can get some delectable finger foods to go with it such as bacon rolls, tenderloin stakes and chicken wings.
There are plenty of recreational activities in and around this area. The Punggol Settlement area is the ideal place for prawning and fishing. You can also rent a bike or use your own one for a breezy ride on the coastal areas.
Transportation is fairly convenient too, as it is surrounded by many expressways such as TPE, SLE and KBE. Due to these expressways, it takes only about 15 minutes to get to the Central Business District (CBD). For cyclists too, Punggol is the perfect place as an intra-town cycling network winding across 8.5 kilometer is expected to be completed by 2017. Besides private transportation choices, public buses also abound in this area. Also, the Punggol MRT and LRT are located close to most apartment communities.
In short, the Punggol neighborhood offers excellent amenities that makes it possible for everyone to strike the perfect balance between work and personal life. While the CBD is only 15 minutes, the peace and tranquillity coupled with vibrant dining and shopping choices ensure there are lots of activities for social and family time.
